Each mug is handmade on the potters wheel. Once the clay has hardened they are trimmed for uniformity and a footring is carved in before handles are made and attached. The black stoneware clay is fired once and then twice dipped in a white glaze for a landscape-like finish. The final glaze firing brings out the darkness of the black clay.
