My CV

If you are reading this page it is probably because I’d be keen to work with you on fundraising, project management, events and communications. So hello! I’m dedicating my time to pottery and to continuing my professional career within the built environment. Because I genuinely love both. Cities and ceramics if you will. Professional experience

Freelance consultancy for UK Green Building Council (UKGBC)

The UKGBC is a not-for-profit membership organisation promoting and campaigning for a more sustainable built environment.

  • 2021: Project Manager - COP26 Built Environment Virtual Pavilion

  • 2021-present: Experiential Events Production Consultant

In May 2021 I was appointed to deliver the COP26 Built Environment Virtual Pavilion, a high-profile initiative with over 100 partner organisations, of which UKGBC was acting as secretariat. The vision was to create a virtual exhibition and event programme that could reach a global audience and showcase solutions to the climate crisis. It was an immensely challenging and complex project with a tight time-frame. I led the project, simplified our approach, appointed designers, chaired meetings with commercial and delivery partners, created and launched an international Open Call for projects, appointed an external comms agency to work alongside internal comms and pushed the project through to completion. You can see the exhibition here and event programme here.

  • The project was delivered on-time and under-budget

  • The project received over 33k visitors in 30 days, the developers suggest the exhibition reached over 90k unique page views

  • 4,000 visitors joined our events programme

  • Featured at live COP events including Bloomberg Green Summit and Blue Zone events

  • 86 pieces of media coverage including World Economic Forum and FT. Potential total reach of 7.7m readers

UKGBC have now appointed me as their Experiential Events Production Consultant to ‘spread some magic’ across their event programming. I will try my best!

The Building Centre/ The Built Environment Trust

Central London gallery and event space showcasing architecture, engineering and design.

2019 – 2021 : Head of Corporate Partnerships

The role of Head of Corporate Partnerships was created for me. I had started fundraising in 2016 when it seemed practical to ask for corporate support for our exhibitions. For each exhibition I researched potential partners, created sponsorship packages, pitched to potential sponsors, negotiated contracts and managed the ongoing relationships with corporate clients.

High-level achievements:

  • I conceived, curated and fundraised for an exhibition and event programme exploring ceramics in architecture. I pitched the idea to the CEO, found commercial backers, curated the show and invited leading artists and architects to discuss their work. Grayson Perry, Richard Deacon, Kate Malone and Eric Parry all joined the talk programme. I have since spoken to a Central St Martins ceramics tutor who said some students are now focussing on architectural ceramics after being inspired by the show. That made me smile.

  • I developed a corporate sponsorship programme from scratch which led to a new income stream of £100k per year.

Skills included:

  • Relationship management – I would ensure sponsors were happy and make sure they met the right people at any associated parties and networking events. I sent follow up stats, press coverage and encouraged my clients to work with us long-term.

  • Creative thinking – coming from a PR/ Marketing background was useful, it helped me create sponsorship packages that were varied. It was clear some partners wanted PR and others preferred face to face events. Finding credible ways to give a sponsor a platform and keep the integrity of the show was essential.

  • Strategic planning – I initiated regular meetings to discuss long-term projects and plan future business relationships to fit our remit. Forged numerous business relationships leading to sponsorship support.
